MY HEART IS IN VIRGINIA

Welcome to the official website for My Heart is in Virginia.

"My Heart is in Virginia", a song originally created in 1998 for the Virginia State song competition, celebrates Virginia's heritage and natural beauty. Although the Virginia State song committee has discontinued its search for a state song, we thought that you might enjoy using our compositions in your music program. ("My Heart is in Virginia" made it into the top 14 finalists.)

"My Heart is in Virginia" is available to all performers (e.g., schools, bands, musicians) from around Virginia to perform for free. Join us in our love of music from across the Virginia Commonwealth.

As originally written, the song is easy and fun to sing -- for all ages. It is suitable for formal occasions as well as informal sing-a-longs. It is especially relevant for fourth graders as they study Virginia history, but can be enjoyed by all elementary, middle, and high school levels. Almost 60 schools from around Virginia have performed the song at various school functions or venues.
